CLIMATE & DEMOCRACY
Local conservation success and exemplar early childhood education programs will mean little if we live in a world that continues to be disrupted by natural disasters, forced migrations and ruled by autocrats who are immune to their citizen’s needs and desires. The threats that these interrelated crises bring cannot be underestimated to future prosperity, be it local or global. We live in a time that requires action now by all to address these crises; to do otherwise is irresponsible.
The Foundation supports projects that demonstrate some or all of the following strategies:
Promoting a rapid, efficient and just transition away from carbon-emitting fuel sources, and toward affordable energy alternatives that don’t emit greenhouse gases.
Promoting and protecting democratic principles and practices in elections and government.
Conserving and protecting ecosystems that provide nature-based mitigation against the effects of climate change.
